ROMANO ADOLINI - ARCHITECT AND DESIGNER
Born in Nepi (VT) in 1956, he graduated in 1982 with a degree in Architecture from the University of Rome "La Sapienza". After an apprenticeship, he opened hi own studio in 1984. Initially he collaborated closely with other firms, which allowed him to undertake large-scale public projects. But he soon began pursuing a more intimate and personal design research, exploring architectural themes connected to the local area, particularly the lower Viterbo one, where he was born and actually lives. Through a reworking of local architectural traditions, his projects, consisting of single-family houses, residential and commercial complexes, sports and religious buildings, are characterized by the use of modern figurative solutions alongside traditional materials and a careful relationship with their surroundings. He has completed several projects involving the conservation of monuments and renovation of industrial and residential complexes. The same attention paid to his own territory and to materials soon led him to explore the world of ceramics, historically present here an today represented by the ceramic sanitaryware production of the Civita Castellana industrial district, a global hub in the sector. After an extensive experience in manufactoring processes and market issues, in the late 90's with the opening of the industry to design, he worked on several bathroom projects. This is the beginnig of his work in industrial design, alternating with his architectural work, which led him to collaborate with leading companies in the sector such as BOFFI, GALASSIA, GAL, FLAMINIA, NIC DESIGN, OLI INTERNATIONAL, AXA, WHITE STONE, KERASAN, CEA, for which he designed some of the most famous collections. He's been art director for GALASSIA (2000/2005), AXA, COLACRIL, WHITE STONE, KERASAN (2008/2010), and OLI (2007/2011), focusing on graphics and communication, exhibition design, advertising and packaging. He is contract professor of industrial product design for the Design Degree Program at the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara. He has received several awards and prizes including:
- 2003 - Design Plus - Francoforte
- 2003 - Adi Design Index
